CAKE POPS MAKE THEIR RETURN TO 2E
this magical endeavor attempted before finals week was the silver lining to the cloud that rose over us during finals week.
after the original cake pops created earlier this year, i knew it was time to step up my game and make something a little more exotic and FESTIVE
i found some color candy coating from Michael's and was able to create festive holiday balls!
santa hates were attempted...but not every creation i attempt is as beautiful as these christmas/hannukah balls
the cake pops will soon be perfected in 2E but until then, these sugary balls are the best balls in TOWN!
Salt and Sprinkles

Finals Week Puppy Chow
After a grueling week of papers, problem sets, readings, and studying, the girls of 2E decided to take a study break and make a fun, easy dessert snack for the whole fam.
PUPPY CHOW!
Contains Crispix, peanut butter, chocolate, powdered sugar
and a stick of butter.
Mmm.
Although we initially faced some challenges with unsoftened butter and organic (clumpy?) powdered sugar, all the ingredients ended up melding together to form sugary clouds of dog-food like goodness.

Christmasfetti Sugar Cookies
It's that time of year again!
(almost)
A few weeks ago, Lauren got bitten by the Christmas love bug. One evening of Pandora holiday music and white-light hanging resulted in a pre-Thanksgiving apartment that is fully festive.
The Christmas (and procrastination) spirit hit us a few nights later when Kelsey decided to make her version of red and green funfetti cookies topped with (minty? looking not flavored) green icing and sprinkles.
They were a great success, and Kelsey made enough to share with everyone, including all our roommates, our neighbors, random visitors, and the Northwestern Cycling Team.
Check this link for more information on Christmas cookies:
Thanksgiving Dinner
Good food, friends who can cook, wine, potluck, and great memories is all what Thanksgivings about. I had the urge for a dinner party and thankfully my friends were on my wavelength. A heartwarming Thanksgiving dinner filled with some of the best guests of 2E marked the coming of the cold.
Gracie - Sweet Potato Casserole
Gabrielle - Mashed Potatoes
Lauren - Macaroni & Cheese, Family Stuffing
Danika - Spinach, Almond, Cranberry Salad
Nataly - Southern Fried Chicken
Maya - Indian Lentil Soup
Rachel - Homemade Cranberry Sauce
Let's just say that the pants were unbuttoned.

Cake Balls
Yesterday was Thursday, Thursday
Today is Friday, Friday
We we we so excited
We so excited
We gonna have a ball today
Friday excitement comes with baking in 2E and today that means CAKE BALLS!
Taking notes from Bakerella's book cleverly entitled "Cake Pops" I ventured to make something bold. By simply baking a cake, crumbling it, adding in frosting and mixing into cute balls, and then decorating with dipped chocolate we had the perfect end to a hectic ass week.
We have many more creations to come inspired by these little sweets so keep an eye out for halloween inspired cake balls wearing pumpkin and ghost costumes!

Sadly, Rebecca Black may be the only one who shares our excitement about Friday and baking cake balls

The Best of Both Worlds: Chocolate Chip Crownies
What could cure Wednesday blues better than chocolate chip crownies (cookies in brownie form and texture!) made from scratch. These crownies were made with all the ingredients for amazing cookies but happily, but accidentally, turned out in brownie form making them the perfect cure to mid-quarter stress. These goodies would even have Hannah Montana singing
These won't last long on our counter....
